YouTube TV Auto-Renewal Class Action Settlement
What Is the YouTube TV Settlement About?
The lawsuit alleges that YouTube and Google did not provide all disclosures required by California’s Automatic Renewal Law when selling YouTube TV subscriptions that renewed automatically. The defendants deny the allegations and say the settlement is not an admission of wrongdoing.
How Much Is the YouTube TV Settlement Payout?
The parties estimate a payment of approximately $92.26 per participating class member. The final amount will be calculated pro rata from the net settlement fund after court-approved attorneys’ fees, expenses, administration costs and any service award are deducted. Payments may be issued by check or an available electronic method such as ACH, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle or virtual prepaid card.
Am I Eligible to File a Claim?
You may be eligible if all of the following are true:
- You were in California.
- Between February 1, 2017, and October 29, 2021, you enrolled in YouTube TV through YouTube billing and paid for at least one renewal term.
- The subscription was for personal, family or household purposes.
- You did not enroll through an iOS app via Apple’s App Store, cancel during a free trial or receive a full refund.
Is the YouTube TV Settlement Legit?
Yes. Judge Beth McGowan of the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, authorized the notice. Simpluris operates the official settlement website. Filing a claim is free.
When’s the Claim Deadline?
The claim, exclusion and objection deadline is August 30, 2026. The final approval hearing is scheduled for October 15, 2026. No payments will be issued unless the court approves the settlement and any appeals are resolved.
Who Qualifies for the YouTube TV Settlement?
The settlement is limited to the defined California class and to subscriptions billed directly through YouTube. Paying for a YouTube TV subscription outside California, starting it through Apple’s App Store, or canceling before the first paid renewal does not satisfy the class definition.
How Do I File a YouTube TV Settlement Claim Form?
Use the official website’s claim form or download the paper form and mail it to the administrator. Enter the identifying information requested in your settlement notice, choose an available payment method, certify the claim, and submit it by August 30, 2026. If you are unsure whether administrator records identify you, contact Simpluris before the deadline.
