Summary

Tinder agreed to a $60.5 million settlement resolving claims that California consumers paid higher prices for Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold because of their age.

The class generally includes people who bought Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold in California between March 2, 2015, and February 10, 2019, while over age 29—or, for purchases on or after March 2, 2016, while over age 28.

The settlement received final approval on June 4, 2026. Directly notified class members are eligible for payment automatically, but selecting PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, ACH or check by August 18, 2026, helps ensure delivery. People who believe they qualify but received no direct notice must submit the official Verification Form by the same date.

Tinder Age-Based Pricing Class Action Settlement

What Is the Tinder Settlement About?

The lawsuit alleges that Tinder charged older California users more for Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold and that the age-based pricing violated California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act and Unfair Competition Law. Tinder denies wrongdoing, denies that class members were injured and settled while an appeal was pending.

How Much Is the Tinder Settlement Payout?

Payments are not a fixed amount. Class members share the net fund on both a per-capita and pro-rata basis. The formula includes an equal share component and an additional share based on how much each person paid for qualifying Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold purchases; those who paid more are expected to receive more.

Am I Eligible to Receive a Payment?

You may qualify if you purchased Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold in California between March 2, 2015, and February 10, 2019, and were over age 29 at the time—or were over age 28 for purchases on or after March 2, 2016. Direct notice by email, text or postcard means Tinder’s records identified you as a potential class member.

Is the Tinder Settlement Legit?

Yes. The Los Angeles County Superior Court finally approved the settlement on June 4, 2026. Verita Global operates the official settlement website and payment-selection process.

When’s the Deadline?

August 18, 2026 is the deadline to choose a payment method and the deadline to submit a Verification Form if you did not receive direct notice. This is not a conventional claim deadline for notified class members; the administrator will attempt an electronic payment using Tinder’s records even if no method is selected.

Who Qualifies for the Tinder Settlement?

Eligibility turns on location, product, purchase date and age at the time of purchase. Tinder Free users, purchases outside California and purchases outside the class period do not qualify under the posted class definition.

How Do I Get a Tinder Settlement Payment?

If you received notice, visit the official website and use the credentials in the notice to choose PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, ACH or a mailed check by August 18, 2026. If you received no notice but believe you qualify, check spam folders and submit the Verification Form by August 18. Do not use the opt-out form; the opt-out deadline has passed.
