Summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment agreed to pay $7.85 million to resolve allegations that ending third-party sales of game-specific PlayStation vouchers reduced competition and led to higher digital game prices.

The settlement covers U.S. consumers who bought one or more games on an official eligible-games list through the PlayStation Store between April 1, 2019, and December 31, 2023. A game qualifies only if it met the settlement’s voucher-redemption and price-increase criteria.

Most eligible consumers with active PlayStation Network accounts do not file a claim; Sony will distribute approved amounts to PSN wallets. Eligible consumers whose PSN accounts are deactivated must provide qualifying purchase information and a current address by August 27, 2026, to request a check.

Sony PlayStation Store Digital Games Settlement

What Is the Sony PlayStation Store Settlement About?

The lawsuit alleges that Sony stopped allowing retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart to sell game-specific digital PlayStation vouchers in April 2019. Plaintiffs claim the change concentrated digital game sales in the PlayStation Store and produced supracompetitive prices. Sony denies wrongdoing.

How Much Is the Sony PlayStation Store Settlement Payout?

The final payment is not yet known. After court-approved deductions, the remaining fund will be allocated among qualifying purchases under the settlement’s Plan of Allocation. Active PSN users generally receive wallet credit; eligible users with deactivated accounts can request a mailed check. The amount depends on eligible purchase data and the final allocation.

Am I Eligible to Receive a Payment?

You must have purchased a listed qualifying digital game through the PlayStation Store between April 1, 2019, and December 31, 2023. Qualifying games had a game-specific voucher available at retail before April 1, 2019, at least 200 voucher redemptions before that date, and a post-discount price increase of at least 50 cents under the settlement’s comparison periods. Check the official eligible-games list.

Is the Sony PlayStation Store Settlement Legit?

Yes. The settlement is pending before Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. A.B. Data, Ltd. is the court-appointed administrator.

When’s the Deadline?

There is no general claim deadline for active PSN accounts because distribution is automatic. The August 27, 2026 deadline applies to eligible class members with deactivated PSN accounts who want to receive a check. The final approval hearing is scheduled for October 15, 2026.

Who Qualifies for the Sony PlayStation Store Settlement?

Only purchases of games appearing on the official eligible-games list qualify. Buying any digital PlayStation game during the class period is not enough. The administrator and Sony will use PSN purchase records to apply the court-approved allocation.

How Do I Get a Sony PlayStation Settlement Payment?

If your qualifying PSN account is active, no claim form is required; keep the account active and contact information current. If it is deactivated, contact the administrator by phone, email or mail and provide qualifying purchase information plus a current address by August 27, 2026. Use the official site to review the eligible-games list before contacting the administrator.
